Posted on 03/01/2019
SickThe Summit County Public Health Department has sent Akron Public Schools three different pieces of information to help parents and students identify illness and to stay healthy this spring.

This is the season for respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses including: colds, influenza, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia, stomachaches and diarrhea.    Please read this first letter on how to stay healthy and keep germs from spreading.  Illness Letter to Schools

We have seen an increase in flu activity during the second half of February throughout Summit County, and we are seeing more Akron Public Schools students absent from school with flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat).  We are writing this letter to you to share some ways that you can help to prevent flu in your child and family, and also in the community.  Influenza Information

Many times students come to school when they should stay home and rest.  Here is a letter that tells parents when students should stay home and when it is safe for them to return to school.  Is your child too sick for school?

We hope everyone has a fun and healthy spring!
